Eyelash extensions from our Orlando lash studio can give you a whole new look and make having perfect eyelashes a breeze. You no longer have to struggle with single-use extensions or wrangle your mascara to get the length and volume you want from your lashes.

When you first get eyelash extensions, they look amazing, and you’re eager to show them off. Unfortunately, if they aren’t properly cared for, they’ll start to lose their luster or fall off too soon.

Why is Aftercare Important?

Whether you realize it or not, taking care of your eyelashes is crucial for your health and overall hygiene. Although your eyelashes may not seem like a vital part of your body, your eyes are.

Eyelash extensions last the longest when you clean and care for them. Contrary to what you may think, never touching your lashes will not make them last longer. If dead skin cells and dirt are allowed to build up, your lashes will no longer be healthy and strong. This can actually shorten the lifespan of your extensions and result in you needing to get a fill more often.

Eyelashes may be only a small part of your body, but they are close to your eyes and need proper care. Anything that harms your eyelashes can also harm your eyes which can lead to more serious complications.

Although your eyelashes probably aren’t your most significant health concern, you should always make sure you are cleaning them and taking good care of them. Whether you have extensions or not, your eyelashes should still receive proper care so that your eyes can stay healthy and you can get more extensions in the future.

Eyelash Aftercare

Now that you have eyelash extensions, you need to learn how to take care of them so they last longer. If you’ve had extensions in the past, you probably already know how to care for your new extensions properly. If this is your first time, you may have a few questions about how to care for your new lashes without accidentally damaging them.

How to Care for Eyelash Extensions

It’s best to wait around 48 hours after getting your extensions before washing them. This is so that your extensions can fully bond with your lashes, and you won’t have to worry about your cleanser pulling them off.

After 48 hours, you can wash your lashes with an oil-free cleanser a few times per week. Be careful not to scrub your lashes. Just a gentle wash and rinse will do. Make sure to wash your lashes after any activity where you sweat and before your next lash appointment.

It’s crucial to keep any cleansers, lotions, setting sprayers, moisturizers, and sunscreens that contain oil away from your lashes. Oils in these products may interfere with the glue holding your lashes, so stick to oil-free products while you have your eyelash extensions.

Never use mascara with your eyelash extensions. This can cause clumping and result in your extensions coming out prematurely.

Caring for your eyelash extensions is just part of having extensions. Like any other cosmetic procedure, you’ll need to take care of your extensions, so they last as long as possible. Not to mention that you’d want to get the most out of the money you’ve spent.

Our lash artist will be able to further advise you about your lash aftercare and answer any questions you may have. Be sure to follow our advice, though, and you’ll enjoy healthy and luscious lashes for a long time!
